The homeland of Giacomo Puccini
Giacomo Puccini was born in Lucca on 22 December 1858 into an illustrious family of musicians from Lucca. After an initial musical education in his hometown, he studied at the Milan Conservatory and became one of the most important composers of his time along with Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner.
His operas Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Tosca, Madame Butterfly and Turandot are still among the most famous plays in the world.
