About Myself: Alexandra Onorato
There are moments in life that change you radically. Mine was when, at the end of the ‘90s, someone suggested to me “why don’t you work as a tourist guide...?”
I was born in Milan, to a German mother and an Italian father and grew up in South America where I studied and graduated in Marketing and Advertising. The idea of becoming a tourist guide in Tuscany had never crossed my mind... But the advice found it's way into my heart and so, gradually, gradually, I began this career.
Today I can say that it has been the decision of my life from more than just the point of view of work! I was already in my thirties with a family when I went back to study and in the last years I have attended different training courses, 800 hours each, all of them about one-year long.
I gained my first qualification, Tourist Guide of Lucca and its province in 2002. Later, Environmental Hiking Guide for Tuscany in 2004 and then Tourist Guide of Florence and its province in 2006. Afterwards, Tourist Guide of Pisa and its province in 2007 and Tourist Guide of Siena and its province in 2009.
It was worth it!
I love my job and I love Tuscany deeply!
